Non-Hermitean Localization and De-Localization

چکیده

We study localization and delocalization in a class of non-hermitean Hamiltonians inspired by the problem of vortex pinning in superconductors. In various simplified models we are able to obtain analytic descriptions, in particular of the non-perturbative emergence of a forked structure (the appearance of “wings”) in the density of states. We calculate how the localization length diverges at the localization-delocalization transition. We map some versions of this problem onto a random walker problem in two dimensions. For a certain model, we find an intricate structure in its density of states. PACS numbers: 02.50, 5.20, 11.10, 71.20 e-mail: joshua, [email protected]

Assessment of Ultrasound / Radio-guided Occult Lesion Localization in Non-palpable Breast Lesions

Objective(s): Controversy exists about the localization of non-palpable breast lesions. In many countries, the gold standard for the diagnosis of these lesions is needle localization due to its accuracy. This study sought to compare the ultrasoundand radio-guided occult lesion localization (ROLL) as a simple method with the conventional procedures in terms of their diagnostic power. Methods: Th...

Spectral Curves of Non - Hermitean Hamiltonians

Recent analytical and numerical work have shown that the spectrum of the random non-hermitean Hamiltonian on a ring which models the physics of vortex line pinning in superconductors is one dimensional. In the maximally nonhermitean limit, we give a simple “one-line” proof of this feature. We then study the spectral curves for various distributions of the random site energies. We find that a cr...

Amplification or reduction of backscattering in a coherently amplifying or absorbing disordered chain

We study localization properties of a one-dimensional disordered system characterized by a random non-hermitean hamiltonian where both the randomness and the non-hermiticity arises in the local site-potential; its real part being random, and a constant imaginary part implying the presence of either a coherent absorption or amplification at each site. While the two-probe transport properties beh...

On improving APIT algorithm for better localization in WSN

In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), localization algorithms could be range-based or range-free. The Approximate Point in Triangle (APIT) is a range-free approach. We propose modification of the APIT algorithm and refer as modified-APIT. We select suitable triangles with appropriate distance between anchors to reduce PIT test errors (edge effect and non-uniform placement of neighbours) in APIT a...
